Back                                                                                                                                         Dieter Richter

Dieter Richter is a German architect, who previously specialized in the restoration and architectural rescue of deteriorating buildings at Maya ruin sites located in the "Triangulo Cultural - Yaxha, Nakum, Naranjo" project area of the Northeastern Peten and has lived in Flores for many years. His experience and familiarity with the back-woods ruins is exceptional in a region that already has its fair share of eager archaeologists working at the many sites.

However, Dieter is more than an archaeological architect; he owns and operates Café Arqueologico Yaxha in Flores, a unique restaurant, whose walls are covered with photos and maps of remote Peten ruin sites. Furthermore, Cafe Arqueologico Yaxha is an international meeting point for archaeologists and scientists who are currently working in the area. Dieter also operates a small tour company through his restaurant called The Mayan Adventure, that specializes in taking enthusiastic adventurers to some of the truly outstanding and little-known archaeological sites in the Peten region.

Dieter has affordable day trips to visit the Maya ruin sites of San Clemente,Yaxhá, Nakum, Naranjo, Ucanal, Tzikin-Tzakan, Buenos Aires and La Blanca, as well as some two or three day trips to visit some of the more obscure Maya sites by 4 WD double cab trucks such as Xultun, Rio Azul, Kinal, Holmul, Naachtun, etc.. He also now has knowledgeable guides for Tikal via Tikaltour.com, which are a rarity, especially if you just show up at Tikal and hope for the best.
